What we do
Julie’s Bicycle is committed to developing a low carbon music industry. We work at every level: corporate and community, individual company and cross-sector. We provide carbon audits, training and tools for sustainable energy management. With our Working Group and partners we are researching and developing ways to collectively reduce emissions.
Working group
The core purpose of the Working Group is to identify recommendations and champion actions across the music industry that will lead to the development of a low carbon industry.
Energy management
Julie’s Bicycle team of experienced environmental scientists and facilitators provide audits, seminars and training that deliver answers on the nuts and bolts of energy reduction to the music and creative industries. Read more
- Environmental audits
Our team is engaged in an ongoing programme of audits in the music and creative industries. Companies we have worked with recently include: The MCPS-PRS Alliance and Warner. We have also worked with sole traders and small creative companies through our ‘Beat the Heat’ programme, including Bug Music, Bigga Fish and Deep Recording Studios.
- Seminars and Training
Drawing on its Beat the Heat programme, first piloted in early 2008, Julie’s Bicycle has developed a range of training tools to inspire and ensure change to business models so that climate change is at the heart of decision-making rather.
- Beat the Heat programme
Beat the Heat is an Energy Management Programme for sole traders and small creative companies, run by Julie’s Bicycle in partnership with the Environmental Change Institute, Oxford University and the London Development Agency. It will help you to reduce your carbon emissions easily and effectively within a network of support and expertise.
Research
Research underpins all of Julie’s Bicycle’s strategic and practical programmes – ensuring we can identify achievable carbon emission reduction targets, and measure our achievements.
Trust
The Julie’s Bicycle Trust is being established as an alternative to ‘carbon offsetting’, for companies who want to pay for their emissions but also make a direct contribution to carbon emissions reduction in their own industry and community, in a transparent, accountable and sustainable way.
